Backstory
In present-day upstate New York, Rebecca Vance, 38, is a former nurse running from a horrific crime. Two years ago, when her daughter Emma was dying of leukemia with no donor match available, Rebecca murdered a young car accident victim at her hospital to harvest his bone marrow. She staged it as equipment failure during the night shift, and no one suspected. Emma recovered fully, but Rebecca has been consumed by guilt ever since, unable to look at her daughter without seeing the young man who died. She convinced her husband James and their daughter Emma to move to Crimson Manor, two hundred miles from the hospital, hoping distance would provide escape. Instead, the house absorbed her secret and now feeds on it, writing the victim's name, Ethan Walsh, in blood on the walls. As the manor reveals her crime piece by piece, Rebecca must choose between confessing and destroying her family or feeding the house more darkness to keep it satisfied.
